Happy Little Family

Happy Little Family by Rebecca Caudill, is one of my favorite audiobooks, and is a definite feel good book. I would highly encourage you to listen the Audible version narrated by Mary Sarah, as her narration skills are certainly above par. The storyline of this book is very charming: Bonnie Fairchild, the youngest of the Fairchild children, is frustrated by her age (which is four, by the way) and how everyone tells her she’s too little to do anything. Which means, she is too young to go sliding on the ice. Althy, her oldest sister, who is twelve, tells her she’ll just get in the way, Chris, her only brother, who’s ten, tells her that she has no idea how cold it is out there, Emmy, her next to oldest sister, who’s eight, tells her she’ll freeze her toes right off, and Debby, her sister, who’s six, tells her that she’s much too little to go, since she’s only four. But nevertheless, Bonnie goes sliding, and has a lot of fun! Soon after that comes several childhood curiosities, such as looking for chances to be brave and win Father’s arrowhead, vanity over lovely straw hats, a journey to school. This book is a wonderful feel-good fiction, and the narrator gives it a very calm, relaxing feel.
