Adventures with Waffles

Adventures with Waffles by Maria Parr, is a charming Norwegian book (translated from Norwegian to English) that is truly wonderful! The first time I read this, I read it aloud to my mom, I was laughing so hard in some parts, that it became hard to read. Several times I looked over and saw my mom laughing or crying. The storyline is pretty simple: Best friends (and neighbors) Trille and Lena are always getting into trouble, and many of their scrapes are very unusual. But at least there’s always a batch of Auntie Granny’s waffles around just when they need a pick-me-up. Trille thinks of Lena as his best friend, if only she would say the same about him. But when disaster strikes, and Lena keeps a secret from Trille, will there ever be a way to fix their friendship? Will there ever be enough waffles to comfort them? This book will truly make you laugh and cry at the same time. It’s a great read!
